About Advanced Medical House Calls

Advanced Medical House Calls was founded as a solution for a family member who needed home care in their later years. That care greatly impacted both the patient and the family, offering quality care and peace of mind. We treat your family like our own. Every one of AMHC’s staff members feels this way and cares for each patient with that compassion and joy. Helping patients is what we do! Mark Wilkerson,
MD, DO, FACEP

Dr. Mark Wilkerson is currently a clinical instructor II for the University of Michigan and an Assistant Clinical Professor for Michigan State University. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992 from the Western University of Allied Health Sciences in California and his Doctorate of Medicine in 1994 from Wayne State School of Medicine. Residency trained in Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Dr. Wilkerson has received many academic honors and teaching awards. He has been published for research in ketamine and cocaine-related chest pain and is active in the education of residents and medical students.

Currently, Dr. Wilkerson works as an attending emergency department physician for the University of Michigan at Hurley Medical Center. He is an ACLS and ATLS instructor and serves on multiple committees at HMC.
In addition, he is the medical director for STAT EMS and AMD Urgent Care in Clio.


In his spare time, Dr. Wilkerson enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and being a coach for his son’s football and baseball teams.

Laura Wilkerson, Founder

Laura L. Wilkerson began her career as a licensed registered nurse in 1997 working in Neuro-ICU in Saginaw, Michigan. Laura worked in a level 1 Trauma Center in 1998 as an emergency room nurse before pursuing her desire to further her education and obtain her Master’s Degree in Nursing. In 2002, Laura graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with her Master’s Degree and is a board-certified nurse practitioner in family practice. NP Wilkerson worked as a family nurse practitioner in Davison, Michigan for four years before finding her true passion in house calls. In 2009, Laura began traveling the roads of Genesee County seeing patients who are no longer capable of making it out to the doctor.

Laura’s commitment to a higher level in-home care is her driving force with Advanced Medical House Calls. Her philosophy to in-home medical care is that of a “team-approach,” involving the patient, family, and multi-discipline team members. She strongly believes this is the best approach for compassionate comprehensive care in the convenience of your own home. Laura currently serves as the Secretary of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the National Alzheimer’s Association, American Academy of Home Care Physicians and the Genesee County Adult Foster Care Providers Association.

Laura enjoys spending time with their son who is actively involved in seasonal sports. She enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with her family. She has volunteered with Meals on Wheels, local soup kitchens as well as providing medical care to those in need.
